Forest Machines
SKOGFORSK, The Swedish Forest Research Institute
A Smart Eye system has been integrated with the forest machine simulator at the Forestry Research Institute of Sweden, SKOGFORSK, in Uppsala.
The simulator can be setup to work both as a harvester and as a forwarder and is used in studies that aims to shorten the time it takes for the operator to handle a tree. By utilizing the full potential of the Smart Eye Pro system the operator's gaze pattern can be monitored. The knowledge of the eye movements can be used when designing a new user interface, which enforces higher throughput.
The system has also been used in a real forwarder and in this case the Eye Tracking system was combined with a Single Scene Camera. In this way the operator's eye movements during machine interaction was recorded in a real-world environment.
